摘要: The fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc) causes a disease of banana (Musa spp.) known as Panama disease or Fusarium wilt. The disease reduces yields in banana growing regions in the world. Environmental factors, particularly edaphic factors such as unfavorable chemical or physical conditions, are thought to play a role in the predisposition of the host to the disease. In this paper we reported investigations into soil chemical and physical properties, such as pH, Ca and Fe into soils, likely to affect chlamydospore germination and the expression of Foc in banana plantlets in soils that were putatively 'suppressive' or 'conducive' to Fusarium wilt at Carnarvon, in Australia. We also investigated the microbial status of soils to identify factors associated with disease suppression.
