摘要: Soil contamination with heavy metals (HMs) in coal mining regions with high geochemical background values poses significant environmental and health risks. However, distinguishing natural and anthropogenic sources of soil HMs effectively is a challenge based on traditional methods. There is also limited knowledge on factors influencing source-oriented health risk assessment. This study developed a multi-dimensional framework integrating geochemical baseline analysis, Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF), Pearson correlation matrix, GIS-based mapping, Pb isotope analysis (MixSIAR Bayesian mixture model), and Monte Carlo-based health risk assessment to quantify source-specific risks in a representative Chinese mining area. Results revealed extensive HMs enrichment: Cd, Hg, As, Pb, and Cr exceeded local backgrounds in >70 % of surface soils, while >50 % surpassed national baselines for Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Zn. Four primary sources were identified: natural parent materials (29 %), natural parent material along with transportation (24 %), coal mining activities (27 %), and agriculture activities (20 %). Human health risk assessment indicated negligible non-carcinogenic risks but unacceptable total carcinogenic risks (mean values: 1.01 x 10(-4) to 3.93 x 10(-4) across demographics). Source-oriented assessment attributed non-carcinogenic risks dominantly to coal mining (45 %), while carcinogenic risks primarily derived from agriculture (39 %) and natural sources (32 %). Risk prioritization was primarily governed by source contribution and HM-specific toxicity, identifying Hg, As, and Cd (linked to coal mining and agriculture) as priority control factors. This integrated methodology advances source-oriented risk management in mining regions, enabling targeted interventions to protect ecosystems and human health.
